sri_devi_HR
Both staffing and recruiting are used to hire candidates for a particular role. However, staffing is commonly used to fill short term roles or to hire people for specific projects. And, because of this, filling these roles tends to be a rather swift process.
On the other hand, recruiting tends to take on the task of finding a more permanent role. That means it might take longer to fill searches simply because it’s necessary to be more strategic and detailed to find a person who has the proper qualifications but is also a fit culturally.
In terms of working with individuals/potential candidates, staffing agencies/firms will generally work with those who are seeking jobs. On the other hand, recruiting firms deal with those who are seeking jobs as well as those that are not. This is commonly referred to as active candidates and passive candidates.

Dear shraddha,
Recruitment is a small part of staffing in our HR domain.
we have reach recruitment first as a HR to reach the staffing.
In simple term: Process of hiring starts with recruitment and end with staffing (Assign operational responsibilities to the person who is selected as a employee in the recruitment process).
I hope the above data may help you to understand in detail.
Thanks & Regards

Both the terms are normally used interchangeably in sourcing candidates. However, staffing is a broader term to source candidates to fill not only permanent vacancies but also vacancies of temporary, part time or fixed term nature as well as through third parties(man power supply agencies) and may well include completion of joining formalities and posting of candidates at the point of need and assigning functions to them. Recruitment is a more specific term and is predominantly associated with filling permanent or fixed tenure vacancies and mostly may end with completing joining formalities. This is my understanding only and may be limited.

Staffing is the term used for filling in a vacant position or an available job within the company/organization, whether temporarily or for good. It may be from the new recruit or from the existing work force who may be appointed on a temporary term or as a transfer of assignment; such transfer may be a promotion of some sort, but it does not always follow.

Dear All,
A simple basic difference between Staffing vs Recruitment...
Staffing means for the Contract basis or short term periods
Recruitment means for the Permanent positions
It may be possible candidates who looking for the short term periods jobs than they would get hired by third party payroll organizations.

Recruitment is the process of attracting the suitably qualified set of people to apply for a particular post in an organization while staffing involves selecting, deploying, and retaining the employees within the organization.

Dear Shradha,
Recruitment is the initial process for selecting candidates by recruitment from the open market to man different positions of the company on vacant posts. Contrarily, staffing denotes placement/posting of right candidate out of the selected candidates according to their qualification, experience & expertise as per work rquirement of different departments of the organisation, e.g., posting of HR qualified candidate in HR & Personnel departments and accounts & finance qualified candidate in Accounts & finance departments. Naturally Accounts & Finance departments cannot be manned by HR personnel or a marketing personnel and vice versa by accounts & finance personnel or a marketing man in HR department.
