Mr. Samir is right. Further, in some states, there is a Fire and Emergency department. When you apply for the NOC, the said department instructs the local Fire Officer to inspect the unit. After that, he gives his report to the Fire and Emergency department along with his recommendations. If improvements in fire equipment and workplace are required, further action is taken, i.e., issuing the NOC or providing a time limit for improvements. The NOC is required in many cases, such as in our case where the SPCB and sometimes the Factories Department require the same.
Moreover, in any fire incident, obtaining the NOC is a mandatory requirement for filing an insurance claim.
