Is There Anyway To Select The Employee Of The Month Across Different SBUs In The Same Organization

Is there any way to select the Employee of the Month across different SBUs in the same organization? I know the obvious answer may be to choose one from each SBU. However, are there any organizations doing it the other way? What could be the criteria to compare accomplishments across spheres?
