vijaibajpai
Hi All,
Since this portal is majorly for HR Related issue, i would like to have my query answered through HR Professionals.
I had worked for a company for almost 4 years , moved from one project to others , quite honest and dedicated ,worker i was , got promotions and recognized , however , since there was no project , one fine day , i was asked to quit which i closed on good note.
Now i am not sure i was asked to leave on the basis of performance or some other issues as other guys could stay and survive , what are my chances to go back to my parent company.
what should be the ideal process to get this answered.
Your suggestions are highly appreciated.

Vijay

Hi Vijay,
At times when the company lays you off it does not mean that you are a bad performer. Re-structuring in any organisation takes places due to business decissions. Sometimes when you do not have a project in hand too the company cannot keep you for too long as they are dependent on their clients. If you get an opportunity to work for the same company you can take it up and look at it positively. Remember you were a good performer and thats why the company is willing to take you back.

Greetings,
The ideal way to approach is through the Hiring Manager . Is your reporting manager still employed by this firm? Do you have an option to find out the reason, for the lay off, through a trusted channel ?
Applying through job sites might look ideal, but dicey, given the number of applicants, you will have to compete. I suggest, you take a back ground verification for your profile on this employment and depending on that, you apply through the connects you had established earlier.
There are many background verification companies who offer candidate verification. You might have to pay , but initiating this, will help you apply with confidence.
Looking forward to hear from you ! Wish you all the best

You should have asked at the time of termination what is the reason.
If you have worked there for long, before leaving, you could easily have sat with your boss or director and asked him to explain the reason why you were asked to quit and what is the possibility of working for them again.
Its not use thinking much about that now, but if you still know people whom you worked with earlier, preferably the managers who know your work, call and ask them if there are vacancies available that you can apply for. Since you left on good terms, i dont see any reason why they will not repsond politely.
If that is not possible, you can simply walk into the office, meet the recruitment head and speak to him about getting a job and give him your CV. If you still are in touch with someone in the company, you can use him as a leverage if you think necessary, to push the matter.

Hi Vijay,
Not every organization discloses the reason why they let you go. I would say bury the past behind and dont worry too much about it. If you can get in touch with your hiring manager that would be ideal else talk to HR directly. Also if any of your friends are still working there they could refer you. Employee Referrals hold more value than walk in's or applying through agencies. Dont worry too much get in touch with them, if they have openings they will willingly take you back and if they dont there is always a better road ahead so just look elsewhere.

Hi,
I would suggest indirect approach.
Get in touch with any old associate and try to find if there are suitable opening.
If response is positive ,then drop in and contact HR.

Every one can have a job. Going back to any ones previous employer will only humiliate you and rest assured, you will not get the same respect and recognition which you enjoyed earlier

Mr. Vijay
First of all I want to ask you that after 4 years of span, why you want to rejoin that organisation, who had lay off you without proper reason and explanations, think twice. Is there no job with you or any other reason and no any option, then definitely you may contact by any ways given by many respondents of the thread.
In this situation, your image and dignity increase if your old employer call you back with higher pay and post. Otherwise situation may reverse.
As per my thought, I were at your place, I make my size bigger and display it to my ex-colleagues and organisation by keeping casual touch with them.
I agree with Fredrick, every one can have a job. It is better to find another option.
It suits or not I dont know, but I think and opine thus.
