Managing Employee Behavior: Resolving Workplace Conflicts and Improving Communication

Hi to all,

The incident took place like this: when my Sales GM was having a monthly review meeting with the outstation team, he indicated to one of the sales executives to work hard and try to cover the maximum area in his allocated district. The sales executive replied, "I can't cover as you say. I can only cover this many areas in my district." Upon hearing this, our Sales GM said, "Please leave the company if you can't." In the conversation, the Sales Executive questioned, "Who are you to tell me I can't leave the company?" The GM then informed HR to terminate him. How should we proceed with this issue? Please suggest to me.

Thank you.

I feel the subject should not be as misbehaving. It leads to a different conclusion.

You were too frank by saying "No" to the boss without even trying.

When the boss is assigning you more work, it means he knows that you are capable of doing more work, which might lead to your appraisal or promotions, etc.

If the superior delegates more responsibilities to the subordinate, it is understood that the subordinate is capable of doing so. Moreover, one should accept extra responsibilities with a positive attitude, conveying directly or indirectly to the management that it will be taken care of during the appraisal process.

Remember: Management keeps a record of everything done by their employees.
