Understanding the Mindsets

Firstly, consider some talented and brilliant individuals. History shows that great minds use common sense to think about and discuss what is possible. Average people just live in the moment, while small-minded people can't find anything more worthy to do than gossip about those they envy. For example, "Great athletes compete in the Olympics, average athletes play softball and ski after work, and poor athletes watch television."

Hope you will understand.

A very nice popular quote and a lovely explanation by Mr. Satish. Mr. Jacob has summed it up nicely. My interpretation is as follows:

GREAT MINDS DISCUSS IDEAS

Great minds are always in pursuit of excellence. When they discuss, they come up with innovative thoughts and ideas. These ideas benefit the community.

AVERAGE MINDS DISCUSS EVENTS

Average minds have limited ability. They reflect on past events and are satisfied with whatever is good or bad as it is.

SMALL MINDS DISCUSS PEOPLE

Small minds have a very narrow outlook on life. They tend to criticize others behind their backs. Such slander does no good to anyone and is avoidable.

Great. Well explained. Now go back to the beginning where Dev has written the quote that was given by "Eleanor Roosevelt." It directly means the majority of people start by discussing people. I did not find the same, so I asked, "WHY IS IT SO?" If you all would not discuss people, you would not have given the answer. Friends, try to make your OWN QUOTE. It is very easy to copy and paste.

Yes, as you mentioned, it is very easy to copy and paste, but it can be quite challenging to fully comprehend a quote. I believe you may not have grasped the essence of the quote in my post. Please revisit the quote in my post and try to place yourself in the context of the quote.

A person is capable of writing a meaningful quote only when they truly understand the messages conveyed in quotes written by others.
