Understanding Procedures for Maharashtra Sales Tax Department Notice on Professional Tax Payment and Enrollment in Mumbai, India

Dear All, Please find attached a notice published by the Sales Tax Department, Maharashtra for Professional Tax (P. Tax), for your information. According to this notice, un-enrolled individuals can now pay the Maharashtra Professional Tax (MPT) of the previous eight years with a nominal amount of Rs. 2 per day as a penalty and get rid of proceedings by the department. Kindly note that the last date of payment towards Professional Tax Enrollment (PTE) (i.e. by the company and employers) is 30th June 2012 for the year 2012-13. Thanks & regards, Keshav Korgaonkar
