Regarding Gratuity [Thread 395255]

Dear All,
I have one query regarding Gratuity.
Actually I have joined one firm recently, they cut my salary by the name of gratuity, even if I haven't completed my 5 years yet in this organization.
Please tell me Can they do that? Can they cut down my salary by the name of Gratuity Reimbursement.
Please solve this query with detail.

Dear Shweta,
I feel the above provision is not a deduction towards Gratuity. Because gratuity is a benefit to be provided by the employer in addition to the salary without any contribution from employees.
But this benefit may be shown in the CTC.

Dear Shwetha,
You might not eligible for gratuity as on now. But after completion of five years you will get gratuity for each year including the current year. That is why it is being shown in current CTC.
