Hi,
First understand the reasons people leave organisations. Categorise based on the position level. Once an employee leaves the organisation understand what extra other factors contributing him to leave the organsiations(position-wise).
Every company has a retention strategy where they don't want to loose key people. Before going to understand about their retention strategies go the companies websites and there is a section for Human resources where they may mention HR strategies. Getting a bond for certain period from newly joined employees is a retention strategy.
Then take each of the company strategy and analyse the success factors and at the end give your comments about the best retention strategies.
Since you are in Bangalore, I prefer you to consider retention strategies at Sasken and Infosys.
Hope this may be useful.
All the Best.

first of all decide on which industry would u like to target.. dat will make ur project more specific n will also help u give more insight into dat particular industry... u could compare n contrast da retention strategies of various companies in dat sector n thereby give ur recommendations etc...
