I give this input from my experience:
Assignments Vs Project
Assignments
1. For Short term Compared to Projects
2. Duration below an year normally
3. Well within your current role
4. You come back to your previous role after the completion
Project
1. Long term duration compared to Assignment
2. More than a year
3. May require change in role
4. May not necessarily come back to previous role.
Seminar Vs Conference
Seminar
1. Seminar makes awareness about a particular topic. Shared by one person. A research scholar sharing knowledge about his new findings
Conference
2. Conference is for sharing and learning by all members who are equally knowledgeable in thier own field.
Just shared what I knew..

secondment (internal & external) as one of a range of tools which will enable to develop an individuals skills and competencies within their normal place of work and also enhance organisational development and provide the individual with valuable experience.
The aim of secondment is to encourage and develop employees by providing them with the opportunity to consolidate existing skills and experiences or to gain further skills, experience, knowledge and abilities that may not exist within their current post. It is also a means by which the organisation can use individuals skills most effectively by assigning appropriately qualified and experienced staff to key areas.
