Hi all,
I am a software professional. Initially, I worked in small software companies (one company is a computer center and another is also a small software company) before joining a CMM company. In the CMM company that I joined, I had issues with my manager and my TL. So, I resigned from that company. During the relieving process, my manager pleaded with me not to escalate the issue to HR (as I had received positive performance feedback from both my TL and client). I possess my offer letter, payslips, performance certificate, and probation completion certificate.
Since then, wherever I go, my former manager holds a personal grudge against me during reference calls. He provided false feedback, claiming I was a fake candidate and discrediting my experience at the computer center as invalid. He even manipulated details of the projects I worked on at the CMM company, such as the team size and project durations.
I have changed jobs three times, yet I continue to face similar negative feedback. In my latest job, the same issue arose during a reference check, with threats of blacklisting me from the software industry or adding my name to a fake database, prompting my resignation.
Despite my technical proficiency and positive performance history, I am discouraged from working due to these threats.
My questions:
1) Is it possible to be blacklisted from the software industry?
2) Can a company create a database entry to blacklist individuals?
3) How can I determine if I have been blacklisted?
4) If I have been blacklisted, how can I defend myself?
5) Even when telling the truth, I encounter the same problem. How do I address this?
6) I have not absconded, and I possess proper relieving letters. Why do I continue to face this issue?
7) Why is my former company pressuring me to provide false information?
I am in a state of confusion. What steps can I take? I am finding it challenging to search for jobs. Any guidance or solution would be appreciated.
