Caught Between Two Choices: HR Or Present Job Of Medical Transcription

I have done my PGDHRM 2006-2008 from Symbiosis Distance Education with A+ grade (71%), with my present job of a medical transcirptionist. I have a query regarding job career prospects about HR, now as I am of age 34, married, and would like to get stability in job. The medical transcription profession only offers varied salary (as much you work, you got money) but my thinking is that with the eyes, ears involved in the medical transcription field, it would be difficult to hold this job for a long time as the age grows, so I along this completed a PGDHRM and now is thinking to change my line. I required the help from seniors of this portal to help me regarding what step should I take in this matter. The suggestions made by seniors will be appreciated. I am in medical transcription field for last 9 years but sees few chances of growth in this field. The seniors can also suggest the fields where I can use my medical transcription field experience as I am getting the news that medical transcription field experience never counts in another industry. Please help me in this regard through your suggestions.

you are never too old to take up a new assignment. if you have the capacity and knowledge in your domain, you will get it. initially you should be prepared for less pay and position, but later on you can make up.
additionally, being in a company for almost 9-10 years continuously should add value to your cv (continuity as organisation can plan assuming you will be them for some time, unlike the present IT gen which keeps on job-hopping).
equip yourself thoroughly in your new domain. there are experienced hr guys in this portal who will guide you better.

Ramesh is very right that its never too late to take up a new assignment.
But I agree with you that after certain period medical transcription cant provide you with much of growth.
You have taken the right decision of doing PGDHRM with a good score.
I think you must try for a Job in HR profile. Its possible that you may have to start for lesser salary and position but future is bright.
HR professional's grow with experience in terms of salary and position.

Thanks a lot to Ramesh and Vineet Saini for support on my decision of changing the job nature at this juncture of life (age 34).
I would like to get clarification regarding my doubts regarding HR:
1. The HR posts are mostly for girls and not boys..I have heard from many of them of this fact.. is it true?
2. The company in which I'm presently working is now making office transcription work to home transcription as this is cost effective of getting the work done (the people not hired but paid according to their lines and quality), so there is staff crunch of quality people and I'm now in a senior QA position (QA2). If I start from my company for the post of HR position, what they will think about it ? Please quote on this serious matter.
Waiting for the views/expressions/comments from the Senior HR people on above-mentioned issues as my decision of changing will make me or will finish me at the dead end..

hi dhiraj, wrong about females getting preference. this only happens if the company is not thinking about long term planning. otherwise they take candidates based on merit - no sex. take it from me.

if you have a opening in hr in your present organisation, all the better. known devil is better than unknown angel. also with your experience in transcription, you have an idea of their pressures and pulls and can take a fair call. juniors/new joinees can be trained by you (on transcription).

it's a win-win situation for both you and your existing company.

there's no dead end dear, it's all in the mind. if you have the conviction and self-belief and keep you mind and ears open, things will work out the better.

in fact I suggest you speak to your employers about your interest in HR and whether they can absorb you in HR. as a quid pro quo tell them that you will back them in transcription in crunch situations. they will, if your employers are fair, appreciate you and give you a break
