~ Fauzia ~
Dear All,

I would like to ask for a few suggestions from you regarding innovative HR techniques that can be implemented in organizations to create a better work environment. In addition to the traditional HR activities, what are the new and more strategically oriented techniques and activities?

Thanks,

Fauzia

Dear Fauzia,

I wanted a few suggestions from your side regarding Innovative HR Techniques that can be used in organizations to make it a better place to work. Apart from the Traditional HR Activities, what are the new and more strategically oriented techniques and activities?

Everything could be done in a new and innovative manner. To get an idea or suggestion about the same, you need to specify a single or a few areas. Probably, no one would be able to give you the answer to such an open-ended question that covers many areas.

By the way, apart from some techniques, innovativeness lies within the person's own self because the implementation again differs from organization to organization. For this, you'll have to be innovative and creative.

Briefly, I would suggest you ask about any area or specific field.

Hi,

Start with the real problem areas as well as the low-hanging fruit. Shortlist a few areas in collaboration with your superiors. Forget looking for innovative ideas; start with what you really want to cure - do not take anything for granted.

Hi,

Try to understand your organizational needs through a climate survey. You will come out with several requirements. They may sound very easy on paper but very difficult for implementation. Your innovation lies in how you implement it.

Here's an example to illustrate:
We recruit security guards - all ex-servicemen - They are dedicated, sincere, and hardworking - qualities developed over time in service to the country. Now, we have recruited technical people from this background. We have achieved dedication, etc., along with low manpower costs. This is innovation!

Dear Fauzia,

You are always welcome... No problem. Knowledge always increases if you share it. Most people avoid sharing it, but I don't.

So if you do have any queries regarding any HR areas, I would try my best to help you.

Hi Fauzai,

Wow, this topic is very close to my heart. :) Innovation can be applied to all processes when once you start playing the role of a Business Manager. For instance, reference checks of candidates... don't just rely on the inputs given by the referees, instead, speak to other people in the same organization! This approach would give one an honest assessment and a true picture.

Dear All,

In my opinion, I believe that the Strategic Capabilities unit is an innovative HR area for creating new HR techniques such as:

- Knowledge Imagineer (Imagine Knowledge Contribution)
- Membership services (Services for customers and employees)
- Change readiness.

Judging by the employee engagement reports I read, the one best thing that HR can do to positively impact the organization is ensure that all managers and supervisors are adequately trained in management skills – and ensure that they use them.

Dear Members,

I wanted to start the discussion again. This time I wanted to discuss the new concept "Employer Branding."

"Employer branding is a central concept in HR marketing." In an era of dwindling demographics, companies and organizations are trying to attract people and convince them to become employees. They tend to use many human resources marketing techniques to do so. It usually answers one basic question: "Why should anyone join the company instead of any other company?" It defines the personality of a company as a preferred employer. It provides potential employees with information on business, culture, and benefits of working for this company. Not only is it used to steer the recruiting effort, but it also leads in generating strategies for retention and motivation. The branding during the recruitment period needs to be confirmed once the candidate becomes an employee.

Hi,

It would be better if we learn all the aspects in HR rather than doing something innovative. Most of our seniors have already conducted many experiments, which are recorded, and sometimes we are even unaware of them. First, we have to refer to HR history and try to analyze the aspects covered in it, which may take no less than 10 years for a learner, as it is an ocean. Later, once confidence and professionalism are built in us, we can think of the next step. Once we have a strong hold on the field, then it would be advisable for us to venture into innovative techniques.

Thank you,
M. Felix C.

Dear Fouzia,

Innovation also means "thinking-out-of-the-box." Maybe you are familiar with this term. This means going against the status quo and the traditional way of working, stepping out of your comfort zone, being willing to take calculated risks, overcoming your fears, humbly listening to others, respecting their ideas, and being open to making noble mistakes.

A "brainstorming" session is another technique to develop innovative ideas.

There should be a "learning culture" in the organization. When learning sessions take place, innovative ideas start generating automatically. We should encourage people to submit their suggestions, ideas, or thoughts on certain matters, from which we may gather a plethora of new ideas. Depending on our needs and after a proper cost/benefits analysis, we can then implement those ideas.

If you need further assistance, feel free to contact me.

Hi Fauzia,

You could use innovation in various aspects of HR. For example, in the area of Employee Retention, you could implement Employee Development Programs by providing training through different methods such as workshops, coaching, and mentoring. This would enable employees to grow within the organization and develop their skills.

Additionally, you could offer educational programs (e.g., MBA or other degrees) to retain employees and boost morale.

Thank you.
