Hi Jitendra
Thanks for the informative material.
It has created quite a bit of scare among the people.
It has shattered the age old belief "Treat cold, it goes in a week, donot treat it - it goes in seven days!" Many honest physicians believed that their resources wre inadequate to treat influenza but they are adequate to treat its complications. The Virologists and the medical profession knew about the 200 or odd viruses (Rhino virus and Adeno virus) causing common-cold. Perhaps a new member is added to that list!
Uniquely, complications of cold (causing virus) have been mostly in the area of upper/lower respiratory tract. But this one appears to be affecting sevral other organ systems (The medical fraternity should corroborate).
Interstingly, we have learnt that viral diseases are auto-immune ones. Opinion of the experts with special reference to H1N1 should be avilable before it is late and the country gets sicker wit evry advancing day under the threat of this.
We have many more communicable dideases that we have been able to make some sort of arrangements to live with. Casualty arising out of water-borne diseases, due to several other air-borne diseases are so heavy that no more we bother to keep any track of it. The statistical figure provided by the very same agency for number of deaths in our country due to Tuberculosis, hepatitis(infective), gastro-enteritis, enteric fever(typhoid), several other respiratory illness and the like are awesome. Even in this country of ours, there is a death occurring every 5 minutes essentially due to problems of child-birth. We have refused ourselves to rise to the ocasion and to adapt measures like putting the mask(even if a five rupee thing sales at hunded times its cost!).
PLease share measures (if you have information) and means to win over this and suggest measures to prevent if we may not be able to cure!
I once more congratulate you for your efforts to share the valuable information.
Regards
