To Work As A Trainer - suggest consultants/firms in Bangalore which can give me initial training to be a trainer

I am an MBA (HR) with a total of 4 years of experience in recruitment. I am looking to transition into the field of training as I believe my interests and potential align more with training. I would appreciate any suggestions from this forum regarding consultants or firms in Bangalore that can provide initial training to become a trainer and offer opportunities to gain experience in this area.

Training requires subject matter expertise, which comes with experience. In corporate training, participants have varied backgrounds. Sometimes, they are experts in their own fields, yet they attend your training class assuming you are the expert in that subject.

With your four years in the recruitment field, please determine in which field you are an expert. Once you are satisfied, you can enter into this field.

What is your understanding of soft skill training? If you wish to impart training on some skills, ask yourself, do I have those skills in me? If yes, then on a scale of 10, what is my level?

However, this could be your perception. You need to repeat this exercise with your friends/superiors as well to have an accurate understanding of your competencies.

When you identify the shortfall of the skills, ask yourself what job you should take to put your skills to the test. Operations staff, in general, have to use most of the skills, followed by Customer Service staff. If not in either of these, then consider a job in marketing, sales, or HR.

I recommend doing this because as a trainer, you need to be different from just a management book or CD. How much does it cost to go to Gangaram and buy a book or CD? As a trainer, what is going to be your distinguishing factor? Personal experience is the best distinguishing factor.

In the meantime, attend as many public workshops as possible. To be a successful trainer, you need exposure to at least 10 trainers. This will give you a complete understanding of the training process, delivery style, and so on.

Lastly, do some train-the-trainer courses.

At times, you will have very intelligent participants with a high take-off level. Handling them is a significant challenge. I have seen hollow trainers being ripped apart in no time. This is where your personal experiences are very important because nobody can take them away from you.

Well, Mr. Dinesh has put it rightly. I am also a trainer. Can we give something which we don't possess? No. Training needs a lot of hard work. And, we should know whether we have a passion for that. That burning and authentic desire to excel directs you to acquire the required skills. Importantly, we should have SWOT analysis. For example, if you want to present on interpersonal skills, first think of INTRAPERSONAL SKILLS. Then, you should excel and know the importance of nonverbal skills. Listening skills are also crucial. I have seen a lot of speakers blaming the participants. It is not enough if we possess knowledge and skills because it only tells us WHAT TO DO and HOW TO DO it. What we need is ATTITUDE and the RIGHT ATTITUDE THAT TELLS YOU WANT TO DO. That "want" is a burning desire and passion.
