Could any body information is there any latest amendment in ESI rules for exemption of ESI contruction agencies/establishment & contract labour working in whose establishment.

Dear Tapan,
If the construction workers are employees of the construction establishments, they are coverable under ESI act.
However, constructions agencies/ establishments, if they employ 20 or more employees are coverable under ESI act.

Ministry of Labour & Employment had issued the Notification No. G.S.R. 164 (E) dated 20 April 2010 amending the Employees' State Insurance (Central) Rules 1950 - enhancing the wage ceiling for coverage under ESI Act 1948 from Rs. 10,000/- to Rs. 15,000/- *w.e.f 1st May 2010*
