Which Specialization In MBA Is Best For Fresh B-TECH Students In CSE

Hi,

I am Srikanth, a B.Tech fresher in CSE. Now, I am planning to do an MBA course. Can anyone suggest which is the best specialization in MBA for me? When I used the internet, I found many specializations within MBA, but I am totally confused by seeing all.

I also had the same worries that you are having exactly one year ago. I have done my Engineering in Electronics & Communication and now doing MBA in Goa. We have specializations in the second year only, and that too we can have dual specializations. So, I am doing HR majors and Marketing minors.

Now, in your case, since you are a CS engineer, you can go for systems if you want to make your career in IT companies. But if you are more inclined towards marketing, then it's better to go for marketing since then you would have wider choices like market research, branding, marketing strategies, and so on. However, whichever company you get through, the initial profile offered to you would be sales only and not pure marketing. It's only after you gain field experience that you climb up the ladder in marketing.

So, you first have to decide what you want to do for the rest of your life. Take up HR only if you are serious about it; otherwise, it will be a mess. Just go ahead with an open mind and don't worry. Decide well.

Dear Srikant,

Perhaps my post may not be well-received by you, but it will present reality. A BE + MBA combination is currently considered the best in the industry. However, it would be beneficial even with minimal experience in the industry (regardless of the specific sector).

As you progress within the organization's verticals, an MBA may become necessary for further advancement. Yet, gaining some experience first will allow you to decide for yourself what is truly needed. An MBA will certainly enhance the attention your resume receives.

Just go for finance. See, everybody wants to go for marketing, and I think finance is the best and cool job for you. You should go for an MBA in finance. Why don't you go for M.Tech? I also have a master's degree and am pursuing my Ph.D.

Don't go with anybody's words. After completing the 10th grade, every student should undergo educational counseling to choose the right career. However, it is often seen that people usually decide on a career based on the pay it offers. You should choose your education, career, or profession based on your areas of interest and strengths. If you choose a career aligned with your interests and strengths, you will not only enjoy it but also succeed. Merely choosing a career based on interests may not lead to success if you lack the necessary skills in that field. Therefore, opt for a career or subject that interests you and where you feel you are technically proficient.
