MBA distance course from IGNOU ? (full time I cannot do)B. Diploma in Training & Development from ISTD ?C. Start something like a small coaching class business or taking tution (earlier I was an English Teacher & tutor) ?D. Flow with the time and taking no proactive steps ? You are unable to use your existing MA English & B ED & Diploma course in HRM from Inst. of Management.
Now, you want to earn more money then you have many options because even after advance studies and Masters Degree you can not exceept any job gurantee with higher salary than your current salary because you have to gain more expereince etc will take another 5 to 10 years to fulfill your expectations reaching respecatble salary in market.

Hi Sandy,

I think instead of going in for new courses, i think you can utilize the existing qualitifcations and skillsets.

1. May be you can join as a Trainer (either english, V&A or soft skills, depending on your specialization) in a call centre training institute and then build your career around it. It will depend on how quickly you can learn new developments in the field of training and HR.

2. Use your qualification of Executive diploma in HR to get a job as a recruiter in one of the consultancies, which have both recruitments and training and put both your skills to utility and slowly you can enter into the corporate world in HR.

3. Simultaneously you can also try for a job in the HR field in MSME (micro, small, medium enterprise) highlighting your qualifications and also your experience as a Admin coordinator, which i guess is more of a office management job.

I would not go into how much your salary is and what kind of a financial crisis are you going through.

I think you can do your MBA through distance mode either through Symbiosis to IGNOU if you still want to pursue your studies.

Hi,
I could say something that I would like you to think about and then start afresh with new plans:
Do what you love, and love what you do.
If the objective of working becomes only the financial benefits - then you have yet not reached ur level of perfection.
if the objective becomes improving urself each time - you taste success and money comes along.
Our members have give valuable suggestions, and the best career advice I have adopted and want you to follow is "Do what you love doing and make someone else pay for it!"
So first find out what you love doing...and then see how u can link it with money. Things will work out. Good Luck!

Dear Sandeep,

Please stick on to your job at the moment. Job prospects are very-very bleak in industry currently. Even if you get one, chances of loosing are far more than your present job where you have worked for almost 3 years.

It is very true as expressed by some friends that, without having experience in HR you would be required to invest more years to have better pay package.

Working with Educational Institutes is not that bad especially many new institutes are coming up near Ahmedabad esp Reliance Industry's University, NIFD and there are some govt institutes also.

I would suggest you to diversify your field in your present organization and take on additional responsibility of Training & Development where you will get to know many HR related activities in vogue in industry. You can also contact your HR and start gaining knowledge (Practical) in Salary Administration (Where you will come across many policies on leave, attandance, medical, LTC, Encashment etc)

Be there for one more year till recession receeds, gain practicle knowledge on above and change your job next May 10.

Thanks

Hi,
Those who want to develop their career in order to get something more in financial benefits, it is better to focus the following competencies. Those having the excellent in these competencies, will ofcourse get an excellent opportunities even during this economic crunch.
1. Leadership Skills
2. Communication Skills
3. Presentation skills
4. Negotiation skills
5. Latest knowledge and information about your subjects, here may be HR.

It doesnot a matter whether you have MBA or MA. A postgraduate is always good, but the career and package relies on what do you know.

I have some experience that, even some MBA graduates donot know anything from their field. During the last year, I had interviewed some MBA graduates for the post of Administrator. They were asked some subject related questions, especially in their specialization; but unfortunately they were not able to answer those. So, develop the skills and competencies and utilize the opportunities. This is the way to reach on the top of the career mountains.

You can go in for A) Distance Education course - Symbiosis or IGNOU & from other reputed institutes
B) Go for Dip in Trng & Dev from ISTD - i can help you out as i am degree holder of ISTD
C) Go for some short term courses/ certificate courses from TVRLS, others in and around A'bad, invest in trng for self.
D) Build around your qualifications and see that they are utilised in your present organisation or look out for other organisation where your credentials will fetch money and job satisfaction for you
Hope this suffices your req.

Hi Sandy,
Though you have already got a good number of valuable suggestions, i have something to add here,
I would suugest you not to go for any other courses rather you could go for some practical training courses which will help you in doing your job better and then once you land up in a good job , probably you can go for further studies.
Also,i would suggest you to work for some more time there in the present company & try to see if you can deliver some additional responsiblities by which you are helping the organisation and ultimately you also learn and help yourself to grow.
Its said, "if you want something you never had before, you have to do something you have never done before"
Thanks
