Hello,
I'm also searching for the manual of Likert's Organizational Profile Survey described in his book ("The Human Organization", 1967), how to score and interpret it.
Could somebody help me?

HI
I gave that book away and I can't remember the questionnaire. If you have a soft copy, please send it to me and I will try and guide you.
If it is for an MBA project, after collecting data, conduct a factor analysis using SPSS to identify categories.

Description of the tool:

Organizational Climate Questionnaire:

The organizational climate questionnaire used for the study was developed by Likert (1967). The questionnaire contains 18 items and measures the 6 dimensions of organizational climate:

1. Leadership (items 1,2,3)

2. Motivation (items 4,5,6)

3. Communication (7,8,9,10)

4. Goal Setting (11,12,13)

5. Decision making (14,15)

6. Controls (16,17,18)

The responses indicate the degree to which the organization tends towards a participative and human oriented as compared to an automotive and highly structured climate.

The four management systems are as follows:

• Explorative and authoritative

• Benevolent

• Consultative

• Participative

Scoring :

The items are scored by adding the responses given by the individuals in the response column. The total score for each of the dimension is calculated. The total organizational climate score is the sum of the scores of all the dimensions. A high score indicates that the employees perceive the organization more favorably.

Standardization:

The questionnaire has been standardized for Indian population to suit our culture by Patel (1978).

Reliability :

The test-retest reliability co-efficient for the different dimensions of organizational climate are as follows:

Dimensions Index of Reliability

Leadership0 .48

Motivation0 .51

Communication 0.60

Decision making 0.95

Goal setting 0.53

Controls 0.48
