Hi Praveena,

Order a cake according to your company's strength, along with snacks like potato chips and soft drinks. It would look good if you also offer a flower bouquet.

Below is an email format. Send this out at 9:30 am.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Subject line should be "Birthday Celebration..."

Hi All,

Let's meet at 3:30 pm in the cafeteria today for the day shift employees' birthday celebrations (for the month of September) and at 10:30 pm for night shift employees.

Here, write employees' names and their shifts (morning and night).

Let's come together and wish all the birthday employees. Everyone is requested to be a part of this celebration.

Do revert to me and give feedback on the same.

Regards,
Your Name.

You can gather all the staff at any suitable point in the office premises for a birthday celebration and send an email to all the employees. Additionally, you can present a birthday card along with flowers. The birthday card can bear the signatures of all the concerned employees. If the number is high, you can include the signatures of the head and all heads of departments. During the celebration, you can distribute pastries/sweets to all the employees. Moreover, you can invite the birthday boy or girl to share their best moments in the company, tell jokes, or share any humorous anecdotes.

However, in my opinion, the celebration should not be lengthy and should be concluded within a short span of time.

Hi Pravinaa,

Greetings of the day!

In my opinion, the day should be very memorable for the employee. Everything depends upon the budget of the company. The employee should be given a half-day holiday along with some gifts to enjoy with his family or friends. If possible, some meal vouchers can be arranged with the help of a corporate deal. A voucher for a recreational park will add to the celebration.

Manish

Hi,

If it's a birthday party with more than 2 members, then you can order a big cake (mention their names on the cake), snacks, and Coke. You can also arrange birthday cone hats for the birthday boys.

Hi Praveena, if you want to celebrate a staff birthday, make it a surprise. Order a cake, some snacks, and present a memorable gift from the organization. The main thing is the person should not know that their birthday is being celebrated in the organization. Looking forward to your reply.

Hi,

You could also gift him/her a gift voucher from Sodexo or a voucher for any dining outlets. One more creative idea is to invite all the staff members to be present on the last Friday of that month and possibly cut a big cake on behalf of all the team members who have celebrated their birthdays in that particular month.

Hi,

If you have any HR board at the entry to your office or near the swipe machine, which can be noticed by everyone entering, then a Birthday wish can be displayed on it. This also gives a chance to the other employees to know a colleague's birthday and wish him.

What we do in our company is:

Present a bouquet and a card signed by all the employees of the company (we do have 250 employees in our unit). Hence, we take a slightly bigger card which does not go to the birthday boy/girl for signature. Then we all (on the same floor) gather near the birthday boy/girl's workplace and present the card and bouquet.

It can be like decorating the desk of an employee before he arrives at his office. This will be the first surprise. Then, as soon as he opens his mailbox, a well-crafted email can be waiting for him. Following that, as soon as he settles in, a gift and a bouquet can be presented to him. And let's not forget, all of this should be done with a smiling face from HR.

Manasvi, can you please tell me, since there are around 250 employees, it's about one birthday each day. How do you manage to get a sign from an employee every day?

Hello,

Go for a birthday cap (get it from a fancy center). Invite everyone by posting the invitation on your notice board. Take photos for your records, and then you can include the same information in your MIS Report.

I hope this information is useful.

Praveen

Hey,

On birthdays, when an employee wants a holiday or they don't come to work, it can lead to increased absenteeism. To reduce absenteeism on birthdays, consider inviting the employee's family members like their wife or son to the workplace. This gesture could involve presenting flowers and gifts on behalf of the company, which can serve as a reminder and motivation for the employee to be present at work.

Thank you.

To add to what others have suggested, you can also hand over a bouquet to the employee. This can be handed over by the senior-most person in the organization present at that time.

Hi, We have started a good tradition in our company. Gather the entire department and ask each member to spell out good qualities about the person. It's tough to spell out good as nowadays we normally talk negatively. So, it would be a nice experience for the birthday guy/girl. You could also give them a slam book with quotes from every HOD and ask the person to spell out their thoughts before cutting the cake. This will help the person identify the competencies within themselves and gain confidence and trust in their team. Do reply if it works.

Hi Praveena,

You can order a cake for the birthday boy or girl, give a card signed by all the staff members or, if it's a big organization, then by your head. Before your office is over, have a birthday celebration. Send an email to everyone to assemble in your cafeteria or a place where everyone can gather. Organize some funny games for about 15-20 minutes and offer some snacks to everyone.

Menaka :)

Hi,

You can declare a day in a month for a birthday bash and celebrate the birthdays of all the employees whose birthdays are falling that month. An awesome cake, some snacks, and soft drinks should be the food. You can also go for buying some small gifts for the employees who are celebrating their birthdays. The best thing to do is to declare a particular employee every month who will be organizing and hosting the entire party.

Some interesting games and a DJ should also be planned. But stick to a time limit and try to finish it within that particular time limit so that work is not affected. Some other indirect motivational activities can also be a part of the party, like awarding the performer of the month.

Please write to me at the following email ID for a more elaborate discussion: shabeer.mkp@gmail.com.

Thanks much,
Shabeer

Hi,

Can you suggest how to draft an email for inviting all the employees to the Employee Birthday Celebration, as it is a monthly activity?

Regards, Gayathri.

Hi,

We can display the list of celebrities having their birthdays in the current month on a notice board. Everyone can wish them on their birthday. The company can arrange bouquets and sweets for them.

After office hours, a small get-together can be arranged to wish all birthday employees. Small, funny, enjoyable games, snacks, and cake can also be arranged to make their birthday memorable.

Regards,
Sunetra
