Leave And Holiday Policy In Construction Company

kumaran siva
Dear Friends,

I have recently joined a construction company and am in the process of setting up the HR department. Could anyone provide me with the company's Leave and Holiday policy (not just as per the law but also as per the current industry practice)? Additionally, what is the approximate percentage of salary turnover in this industry in practice?

Your immediate feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks & regards,
Shiv Kumar

Hi, Siva,

Apart from the three national holidays, companies generally have four to seven days as declared holidays. You can have 20-30 days of leave, which can be split up into PL/EL, CL, and Sick leave.

Hope this helps.

Dear Reji,

Thank you for your response. In this company, there is no policy because there was no HR department since its beginning in 1997. Now, I am in the process of implementing various policies. As the work is of a continuous nature on-site, I am creating different policies for office staff and site staff. However, I want all employees to have the same benefits. Here is my proposed leave policy:

For Office Staff:
- All Weekly Off
- 7 CL
- 1 EL per 20 working days
- 10 Holidays

For Site Staff:
- 2 Weekly offs in a month
- 45 days EL, which includes CL, balance Weekly off, etc.
- 5 Holidays (the remaining 5 days will be added to leave)
- All leaves are encashable

I feel that the leave I am proposing is more generous compared to other construction companies. I would like to know if I am right or wrong. Please give me your suggestions.

Thank you,
Siva Kumar

Hello to all,

I'm looking for research on how holidays and work schedules affect productivity. I work in a construction company where employees work for 48 days straight and then have 7 days off. There are others who never go home. I want to demonstrate how this impacts actual productivity.

Thank you in advance.
