Dear Friend,

Every institution in India are bound to operate on the basis of some statutes prevailing in India. As such your institution, even though if it is a private concern in nature has to bound to operate as per such legislature and its provisions viz. normal notified working hours, One weekly off with pay on every week, lunch break, enjoyment of National & Festival Holidays as per relevant statutes, disbursement of wages etc.

As mentioned in your communication, your management is bound to offer a Weekly off with pay in every week, which has to be decided in mutual understanding first then record the same with the Appropriate Authorities of Labour & Rehabilitation Department who has the jurisdiction in your area. This officer is the legal authority to primarily look into the labour matters of your region.

If your management is not lent their ears for attending your grievances, you have to approach before the respective chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accounts of India, where your management is associated, the that Institution is maintaining a discipline among their members as well as this Institution can not issue any direction which are against the rules & regulations.

Every attempt should be initiated through Proper Channel, which please note.

Best of luck

Well, this is a chartered accountant office
Very few ca offices work 5 days
The emoloyees know what they are getting into and join knowing their work, load.
Yes, they are working overnight at times, but did you count the number of time they are leaving early (mostly from client locations) during non-peak period ? It's in the nature of work they are doing.
The management is not going to listen to your request for more Saturday off
None of the arguments are going to work, and you will get into the bad books of your bosses unnecessarily. You will have to tell the concerned emoloyees that it's not granted and they have to live with it.
E shop and establishment act does not apply to a chartered accounting firm. So the 48 hours a week rule does not apply either. If you go to the institute as someone suggested, you will end up being a laughing stock and will definately lose your job
