Dear Flasher,
Your query/problem is how to get an increment.
Every organization, be it foreign or Indian, has its own policy and procedure to provide benefits and fringe benefits to its employees. As far as the policy of increment is concerned, it is usually based on two criteria: periodicity and performance.
An increment is the increase in pay allowed after a certain period. It is up to the management of an organization to decide the period; it may be one year or three years. Usually, it is given annually, i.e., after every 12 months. In some organizations, particularly in government ones, it is an annual feature, whereas in most organizations, increment is linked with performance. It is entirely governed by the productivity of an employee, which is judged by a senior-level manager or the employee's immediate boss. Based on the productivity report, the question of whether an employee is entitled to an increment or not, and the amount of the increment, is decided.
So, Mr. Flasher, please check your management policy regarding increments. I hope that afterward, you will understand why an increment has not been given to you. In case you are eligible for an increment but the management is not providing one, you may write a representation to the management to address your grievance. If your grievance is still not addressed, you may resort to the employment laws of that country or resign from the organization when a better opportunity arises.
Thanks,
YCB
