Understanding ESI Calculation and Employee Satisfaction Index - Comprehensive Thread Analysis

MParmar
Dear Friend,
I find following formula on net to find ESI. But I don't understand How to use it?
I am a student of MBA(HR) 3-year evening programme and doing project on "Employee Satisfaction" for that I want to use this. Suggest If u have any other formula. I am using 5 scale format for questionnaire as per step 1.

1. How to calculate ESI?
a.There is a five-point scale in the questionnaire or survey from employee responses.

ˇStrongly Agree

ˇAgree

ˇUndecided

ˇ Disagree

ˇ Strongly Disagree.

b. You should remark number attached, include strongly agree (5) to strongly disagree (1).
c. The TOTAL SCORE RECEIVED is calculated = (total number of responses of 5 * 5)+(total number of responses of 4 * 4)+(total number of responses of 3 * 3)+(total number of responses of 2 * 2)+(total number of responses of 1 * 1)
Then, total number of questions with answers against each response is calculated (5, 4, 3, 2, and 1).
d. The total number of questions answered is calculated.
e. Calculate the MAXIMUM TOTAL SCORE which is the TOTAL (pt. d) * 5.
ESI = (TOTAL SCORE RECEIVED / MAXIMUM TOTAL SCORE) * 100
If anybody understand then explain it with example.

Is there any other formula for ESI calculation.

Mahesh

I suppose you mean the Employee State Insurance Scheme.

All employees with a gross salary of Rs. 10,000 or less are covered under the ESI Scheme. The employer's share of contribution is 4.75% of the gross salary, and the employee's share is 1.75% of the gross salary. This is the formula for ESI deduction.

I think there is some confusion regarding the employee satisfaction indicator. Mr. Parmar, can I know how many questions you have? Only then can we explain it.

Dear veekayk99,

You have deviated from the subject. Here, ESI does not refer to Employee State Insurance. The query is about the Employee Satisfaction Index/Indicator. Don't jump the gun.

Thanks & Regards

Yes, you are right. I am talking about Employee Satisfaction Index. There are 50 questions divided into 10 areas (5 questions per area) such as communication, compensation, manager relationship, etc., with a 5-scale rating (Strongly Agree to Strongly Disagree).

I want to know how to calculate the Employee Satisfaction Index. If you know, please explain it with an example.
MParmar
Please explain it with example. I have 50Qs with 10area (5 Qs/Area).

To calculate ESIC deductions, you need to consider whether it should be based on the gross salary alone or on the gross salary inclusive of incentives and allowances.
