Will you accept the current offer or a future offer letter?

Hi, A candidate is appearing for the interview at TCS for a Business Associate position (Resume Sourcing).

If the interviewer asks, for example, if you are selected by TCS and received the offer letter, and before the joining period you receive a call letter from another organization (Wipro, Infosys, Satyam, etc.), and are selected, which one will you accept?

If you accept or reject the TCS offer, why? If you accept or reject the Wipro offer, why?

I strongly feel, please don't put any company names in this forum. Your question seems to be very tricky. If anybody answers that, it's purely a biased one. Consider the job profile first, then compensation. You know your needs and wishes more than anybody. Decision is purely yours. Nowadays job security is almost the same in every company.

Join the one you first committed. Don't cheat the people who are speaking with you, for example, in TCS (HR). I know after you don't join that company, HR will hear about it from his Senior Manager. I have had that experience.

I would advise you to go ahead with the offer which you have accepted and committed to join, or else you can get blacklisted by that company and its sister concerns as well. Therefore, always ask for enough time for you to think over the offer issued by any company, no matter how big it may be.

You selected at both places, which means you have something in you. Select one, but compare the benefits and before joining a company, inform both companies about the offer the other is providing to you. Also, provide a reason to the first company why you chose the second one.

Here is a situation: we offered a candidate a position one month ago when there was a project requirement. In the past month, due to changes in market conditions, we have slowed down our recruitment process.

Can we revoke the offer given to the candidate at this point in time? Is there any clause in the offer letter that addresses this issue? Are there any legal obligations to consider?

If I were in this situation and had to make a decision, I would reconsider all the aspects on which I based my acceptance of the offer from the first company (e.g., career growth, company profile, position being offered, perks, and location). If I discover that the other company is essentially offering the same, then I would proceed with the first company. Otherwise, I would choose the company that fulfills my requirements.

Hi Gayu,

At the first instance, understand and figure out what your priorities and expectations are from the job. It may be exposure to new skills/technologies, career advancement, shift of verticals, perks, recognition, job security, onsite opportunities, etc. Map your expectations with what is being offered by both organizations, which would help you make a decision. The same can be substantiated when asked during the interview process.
