Dear sir,

If an employee who attains the age of 58 works 13 days in September 2020, the NCP Days will be 17. EPS Wages will be Zero for the employee who attains the age of 58.

An error file is generated while uploading the text notepad document. The error is as follows: "Error NCP Days should be zero as EPS wages are zero. Found on line numbers: [5]"

Do we need to make NCP Days as zero even though the actual NCP days are 17? Please clarify.

NCP stands for Non-Contribution Period, and it does not relate to EPS in any way. If the contribution is paid for the full month, then NCP equals zero. If the contribution is paid for only 13 days and marked as an exit on the 13th or 14th, then zero is still valid. NCP of 17 is just a marker to calculate the missing days, i.e., less contribution.

  • Since the employee's concern exceeds the age limit, hence EPS contribution is nil. His/her pension has already been determined based on his/her past services. Therefore, there is no need to mention NCP days.

    The month in which an employee attains the age of 58 or above, they have to be paid full EPS. Thereafter, EPS would be 0 (zero) in subsequent ECR filings. However, this change does not need to be reflected in NCP, as long as the employee is not absent or marked as "non-contributory."

    While uploading the ECR text file, I am getting the following error:

    'Error NCP Days should be zero as EPS wages are zero.'

    I have input '0' under EPS wages because my employee is not eligible for EPS, and '1' under NCP Days because the employee took leave for 1 day. What is the problem here?

    @ when EPF and EDLI salary is FULL and there is no reduction, then question of NCP does not arise, it must be zero

    @Glidor

    In a restricted basic case (EPF wages will be 15000, even if the actual basic is 30000), if my employee took a 1-day leave, even his/her EPF wages are 15000. So in this case, do I mention EPF & EDLI wages as 15000 and NCP days as 1, right?

    Dear Sir,

    I have entered NCP days as 0 for relieved employees, but it shows an error as "Error: NCP Days should be the number of days in the wage month as EPS wages are zero," found on line numbers. What shall I do, sir?

    Thank you.

    (Fact Checked)-The NCP Days should be the number of days in the wage month, not necessarily zero if EPS wages are zero. Adjust the NCP Days accordingly. (1 Acknowledge point)

    EPS should be 8.33% of basic wages, and it can be zero only in the case of employees aged 58 and above. If EPS is zero, then EPF should also be zero. In this scenario, you may need to remove the line from ECR and exit the individual from the portal because, as per your statement, they are relieved, indicating they are no longer employed.

    If all values are zero, the employer must input the NCP days as full days of the respective month in the case of leave.

    (Fact Checked)-NCP days are not mandatory if EPS wages are zero. No need to report NCP days when the employee is ineligible for EPS. (1 Acknowledge point)
