I joined a BPO on 16th September 2015 and left on 6th October 2015. Now they are asking for the recovery of Rs 8500. What if I don't pay the amount? I left that BPO due to work pressure. Can they take legal action against me if I don't pay the recovery amount?

Depends upon terms and conditions contained in your offer cum appointment letter. BUT, you have not mentioned, recovery on what account, as resignation notice pay or the salary if any paid to you?

They didn't give any salary to me because I worked only for 20 days. In my offer letter, it's mentioned that I have to pay one month's salary to the company if I leave without giving a notice period of 15 days.

If you signed a bond, they would send notices to your address for recovering the amount. If you don't reply after some notices, they will be compelled to file suit against you for recovery of the same. They don't give an experience certificate to you. If you join another firm, in background verification, your previous employer may ruin your life by giving bad feedback.

You have the experience letter from the previous company, don't you? That's enough. Tell the new guys that you took a 3-month break. Don't bother to pay the interim company. At most, they will send some letters home. Ignore it. The amount of $8500 is too small for anyone to go to court.
