Dinesh, a visit to the 'EmpXtrack' website can be educative in this regard. Their Performance management system is used by the IT company which has developed the software. And, interestingly, many other IT companies, big & small, are also using this software.
May be you will find something worthwhile to share with your MD. But you have to put in some effort to understand & create your own solution.
