Hi all,

My friend is pursuing an MBA, and soon their placements are going to start. He is specializing in Marketing. ICICI Bank and 3i Infotech are coming to their college in two weeks' time.

The profile for ICICI Bank is Assistant Manager (Band II) with a package of 6.01 lakhs. The profile for 3i Infotech is Business Analyst with a package of 4-5 lakhs.

He wants to know which company is better in terms of growth prospects, HR practices, work environment, etc., so that he can apply accordingly. They will also have other companies visiting in around 2 months, such as India Bulls, Eserve, HSBC, UTI, HDFC, TCS, etc. However, once he gets selected in a company, he cannot appear in any other company.

I'd like my seniors to give their views about these two companies and also about any other company mentioned above so that he can make the right decision.

Thanks & Regards,
Gaurav Sahu.

No one amongst my seniors seems to have any idea about these two organizations, or perhaps no one wants to comment on ICICI and 3i.

Please help me out to assist my friend....

Hi,

Here, the question of whether a company is good or bad really does not matter a lot. Rather, the profile being offered is more important. 3i, being from the IT/ITes sector, is definitely more fast-paced, and the culture would also be accordingly. The IT sector is definitely more aggressive than any other sector. Moreover, the profile of a Business Analyst is definitely what I would suggest, but again, the decision solely depends on what that person foresees as a career.

I think going for Assistant Manager in ICICI Bank would be a better choice. I work in 3i Infotech. Even a graduate who has worked in a particular domain for a few years and has functional knowledge can easily become a Business Analyst, but since you are an MBA, Assistant Manager would be a better option in terms of salary, grade, and future prospects.

What work is allotted to him would be more important, and he should enjoy doing that. So, ask him to analyze the profile carefully. It depends on how he approaches his work, and there is always a long way to go.

ALL THE BEST.
