I am asked to prepare a presentation on the Training Department containing its importance, use, activities, reports, plans, budget, etc., and its overall effect on the company.

Dear Najam,

You have been posting your queries one after the other. I had a doubt about your training head's background, and whatever I had assumed had come true. We had exchanged a couple of emails, and based on the same, I am submitting my views in favor of your organization.

My query to you is:

- As a "Skills Enhancement Specialist," why is your knowledge about various tools limited? Are you a fresher? You must not blame your department head. If you possess experience and skills, I am sure you can deliver beyond yours and your superior's expectations. I hope you will agree with me.

- Saudi European Petrochemical Company, a SABIC Affiliate, a well-known organization in KSA where the Finance & Administration department is combined, and HR activities are carried out under this banner. This sounds very strange to me.

- Don't you think your organization deserves OD, including restructuring?

I strongly feel that you must have discussions with your department and present your proposal for starting these departments, HR and Administration, followed by appointing HR & Administration officers/professionals having sound knowledge about processes and procedures.

I have come across many employees who were given a task to be executed by an experienced/managerial level personality, while they were hired for a different task. Just to save their jobs, employees seek help in this forum without having a straightforward discussion with their superiors. I wonder how long they will keep seeking help just to execute their assignments and safeguard their jobs, without acquiring real-time knowledge about the subject.

Talk to your department and try your best to create a vacancy for me. I will do the rest.

Well, things always do not work as the way we want them to, especially in Gulf Areas. I wish I could create a post for you and get things done. I do have 14+ years of experience in training and a lot of material too. I have posted this request to check if there is anything better available from our professional friends.

Assalamu Alaikum. I was truly speechless for a while after going through your reply. With 14+ years of experience in T & D, you must be an expert, but your query sounded like that of an entry-level employee. Moreover, you mentioned that you had no idea about KRA, 360-degree feedback system, and also were not aware of competency mapping. Please forgive me if I hurt your feelings by expressing my views. To be honest, we, as members, wish to learn more from your experience.

At the time of posting, you could have shared all relevant details supporting members to revert with adequate information, but this did not happen. Instead, you kept posting queries pertaining to T & D, which made me think differently about you, your roles, and your HOD. I suggest you hire an HR consultant or an expert to ensure your department's activities are done properly, or else you will never find quality in whatever you do. I request you to take my words for granted.
