Dear Sweta,

There are different types of loans pertaining to different situations. For example, for marriage, one should have at least 7 years of service with 50% of employee share. For education, the same service length applies with the same percentage. For treatment, it is for self and family with no minimum service requirement, amounting to 6 times of wages or the full employee share, and so on.

Depending on the criteria, the loan amount will vary.

Dear Sir,

I have one query! If an employee avails a loan from EPFO, and his regular contributions and repayment in regular installments of the loan are continuing without any break, but unfortunately, he died after paying 4 installments while simultaneously his PF contributions were being made.

Will his death benefits and pension be paid to their nominee? Will his loan be frozen, or will it be deducted from Pensionary Benefits?

Awaiting your reply, Sir.

Dear Mr. Prasad,

Actually, that is not a loan. It's an advance withdrawal from his account. No need to repay. He will avail all necessary benefits if he dies during service according to EPF rules.
