Hi Mangesh,

Background checks (BGC) are conducted by ethical organizations to ensure that the candidates they recruit are genuine and ethical in all aspects. For this, these organizations typically have partnerships with third-party vendors who specialize in such checks. The main checks usually include:

1. Educational verification
2. Verification of previous work experiences
3. Checking for loan defaults
4. Criminal record check
5. Address verification, etc.

Although these checks are not completely foolproof, organizations make additional efforts to investigate cases where an employee is flagged with severe BGC issues.

I hope I have answered your question to some extent. There are numerous articles on this topic available on Google. You can try browsing for more information.

Hello Mangesh,

If this thread has been posted along with the one mentioned below, then the only impression I get is this: 'you are trying to act smart' by misusing this Forum. https://www.citehr.com/346794-would-...s-company.html

By posting innocuous-looking threads like these, you aren't doing anyone a favor, including yourself.

I am not trying to "act smart", I had two queries, so i asked them, and about "misusing this Forum" I didn’t mean to, but this is free forum and I have all rights to ask what I want to ask.

Hi,

Companies conduct background checks (BGCs) to ascertain whether a potential candidate is the right fit for their organization. Some of the things they check are:

- Personal information
- Past performance
- Employee attitude towards subordinates and seniors
- Whether the candidate is a team player or not
- Last package received

Hello Mangesh,

I do understand when you mention "......about "misusing this Forum" I didn't mean to". After all, no one knows everything or does everything right, me included—that's what this Forum is for.

And there's nothing to bar anyone from asking multiple queries in a single posting—especially if they are related [which yours seem to be]. In fact, that would give those responding a chance to give more well-informed guidance/suggestions.

Coming to your comments "........this is a free forum and I have all 'rights' to ask what I want to ask.......".

I suggest you don't ever think along those lines, since that attitude would more than likely take you on a path where the motive/intent veers away from your act—either of asking or doing.

It would be like someone saying: India is a free country, so I have all 'rights' to do what I want to do"—hope you get the meaning & the correlation to what you mentioned.

This Forum is for those who are in a GENUINE NEED for sharing, knowing, and for those who make GENUINE MISTAKES. NOT for those who put across queries with the intention to misuse/abuse/misrepresent.

Just look at some of the recent queries & the responses, and you would be able to realize what this means & entails [one member asked brazenly for guidance for 'backdoor entry' into a well-known IT Company :-)].

The responses to your query in this thread [combined with the responses to your other thread] CAN also be misused if one reflects carefully—the reason why I raised the alert by mentioning '......If this thread has been posted along with the one mentioned below.........'.

All the Best.

Hi Mangesh,

Generally, the background check (BGC) includes the following items:

1. Personal Information
2. Salary Certificate
3. Experience Certificate
4. Criminal Check (Occasionally)
5. Educational Qualifications
6. Last Designation
7. Two Reference Checks from the last employment and two more from personal references

Based on my knowledge, these are some of the checks that are generally performed. For your information, I have been in touch with some BGC agencies, and hence, I am aware of these procedures. Have a great day ahead. If anyone would like to add more, please do so here. Have a great day.

With due respect, I would request senior members to act diplomatically than directly putting a blame. The person may not be aware of the system. Just a thought please.

Sir Seniors,

I have completed my MBA in International Business from London, which is a 2-year course including a 1-year internship. I started the internship and after continuing for 2-3 months, I gave up. I used to go once every 2 weeks, but after one year, I found my internship letter couriered from the company.

Seniors, please advise me - may I include this internship experience on my CV stating that I interned at [Company Name]? During interviews, recruiters often inquire about where I completed my internship.

Please guide me on what to do in this regard.

Regards,
Rajiv

Dear Mangesh,

The employer does check all the details of the person who is going to be hired. The verification process is sometimes done after the joining of the employee and before the confirmation of service in the new organization. The major information that needs to be verified by the employer/HR is enlisted below:

1. Address details provided.
2. Qualification documents submitted.
3. Salary information/pay slip from the last employer/salary bank statement from the previous organization.
4. Truthfulness of experience.
5. Character certificate, including criminal background, involvement in protests, etc.
6. Previous organization designation.
7. Previous credibility in the profession.
8. Medical fitness.

Thanks & Best Regards,

Hi,

A background check is conducted to determine whether the person we are recruiting possesses ethics and sincerity towards a particular company. It includes reviewing the candidate's salary, department, knowledge and expertise, commitment to work, any criminal records, proper resignation from previous organizations, and potential issues for the current company in hiring the individual.

Thank you.
