Hi Rajiv,
To me ends always does not justify means, SWOT is a tool and the use of tool and ways of using the tool ipso facto evidence the objectivity of the entire exercise. This statement can be elaborated if in case the swot analysis is used to justify something irrational pressure tactics tool or a mean of justifying failure/s. It is dependent upon various probabilities and or combination of variables which are not static/stable at times hence being on the same side apart from swot analysis we should have some alternative mean of back up plan "you may call it experience or intuition" but I call it play safe or else...... .

SWOT analysis is a tool for auditing an organization and its environment. It is the first stage of planning and helps marketers to focus on key issues. SWOT stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Strengths and weaknesses are internal factors. Opportunities and threats are external factors.
A word of caution, SWOT analysis can be very subjective. Do not rely on SWOT too much. Two people rarely come-up with the same final version of SWOT. TOWS analysis is extremely similar. It simply looks at the negative factors first in order to turn them into positive factors. So use SWOT as guide and not a prescription.

SWOT is basically a analyzer tool to forecast whether the mission or strategy plans designed earlier were achieved or not. It also signifies whether the set of policies or rules are executed properly or not.
SWOT generally reflects the blueprint of the elements of good n bad of any corporate strategy.

According to my view SWOT analysis will help us to come to clarity state about goals individual or organizational. It is true that it will guide us in this form and definitely it is not a prescription.

It is very correct statement. It is guide for organisation and individual to set thier goals. The SMART goals can not be set unless you have done SWOT analysis of yours and organisation. If ing you look at it from other side, it is prerequiste for setting goals.

SWOT in a lay man's language is a mirror which tells when put in front of you How you look like. What should you wear depending on your body structure. If yo are flab and have got tyres then you take steps of either going for a jog or to the gym.In the mirror you try to find out the best part of yours could be your eyes or nose or looks and then based on that you think of capitalizing that.A Radio Jockey would capitalize on his voice so forth and so on. Thats what is being done by the SWOT analysis. Its just a tool to tell where you stand and how do you go about for your future course.This could be for an individual or a company. When it comes to an organization it becomes quite broader and we need to look into different perspectives and based on that we start thinking and thinking ( to an extent Kaixen) of what strategies do we implement to proceed.
