Dear Shweta Mohanty,

As per my opinion, the salary hike for the period 2008-2009 averages 12 to 15%, depending on the organization. However, in our sector (Infrastructure/Construction/HVAC), we have finalized a 15% salary hike for the current year in our India operation compared to the previous year, i.e., 20 to 25%. This is for your information. You may contact M/S Omam Consultant in Delhi for a salary survey regarding your organization. Please send me your email ID for detailed compensation report.

If an employee exhausts all his CL and SL in advance in a year and resigns from his job in the middle of the same year, there should be a deduction from his salary at the time of full and final settlement.

LWP is a legal matter. You cannot just put anybody on LWP; you can be challenged. In case all leaves are exhausted or any leaves violating discipline are availed, the person can be put on LWP. So in your example, it should be only Friday (given the conditions mentioned above).

Secondly, CL/SL are non-encashable leaves. They get exhausted by the year-end. Therefore, it is your bad luck if the person has availed all CL/SL and resigns mid-year. You can only calculate with his/her PL when doing the FFS.

Hi all,

Hi, Saurabh Shrivastav, for your query...

I'm trying to answer.

Indians to receive biggest salary hikes in 2010: Survey

According to a salary survey in Hong Kong (Oct 2009), companies in Asia are set to offer bigger pay rises in 2010 as the region continues to rebound from the global recession, notably in India where base salary levels are poised to jump nearly 10 percent, a survey showed on 21st Oct 2009 (according to Hewitt).

The survey covered more than 2,000 local and joint-venture companies in the Asia-Pacific region. Salaries, or annual guaranteed pay, in 2009 in Asia's fast-growing economic powerhouses China and India, at 4.5 percent and 6.3 percent respectively, were the lowest since 2005.
