Dear All,

I am working in a private company as an accountant. Recently, a retired person joined as an executive officer in our company. During the preparation of the salary statement, he insists on not deducting Provident Fund from my salary because I am a retired employee of the Government of India.

He said PF is not applicable for government retired people who have re-joined private companies after completing government service.

He is correct; kindly help me in this regard.

Thanks,

Yes, after completion of 58 years of age, a person is not eligible for PF contribution. Also, if his salary is non-deductible as per the PF ceiling, i.e., Rs. 6500/- per month.

Do you agree with Mr. Malik?
